I'm thinking about buying a vx calais supercharged BLACK!!and I was wondering if the superchargers are reliable and if anyone has had any problems with them? I also wanna know what fuel has to go in them if it has to be premium or if people just for normal unleaded in it, would also like to know how many kms people get out of them.
cheers![]()
The supercharged (L67) engine is quite well engineered, from the cold air intake to the exhaust it is good at stock levels. Fit a smaller pulley (87mm) and it will be around 9-10psi from the stock 5-6 psi.
98octane is recommended and the computer is able to adjust to the best settings with better fuel and even the extra boost. 95 is the bare essential though.
No one is having issues with reliability on standard to mildly modded L67s but when you start getting to the 200rwkw + the charger does wear a little due to been spun 2-3 times faster than recommended but still good nonetheless.
If you are a modder do yourself a favour and buy an LS1. For the same dollars an LS1 will put you into a different bracket on the track but for the street the L67 has great off the mark punch.
how come they are called L67?
