    Default Dodgy VT Trany

G'day first time here and in need of help.My VT ecotec Wagon is a great car except for one prob. The gearbox will drop back to 3rd while cruising along at 100k's on an open bit of flat road and just stay there. You pull over and take off as normal and the shift from1st to 3rd is normal but won't hit 4th unless you turn the car off and start again.Had computer on it and only code 85 comes up as slipping gearbox. As it is ex police it is expected.Had it looked at by mechanics and tranny blokes and they say there is nothing wrong but i know different.Any suggestions or technical advice would be excellent cheers take it easy.

    DTC 85 WILL SET IF:
    • No DTC 28.
    • Throttle angle is 20-100%.
    • TCC is commanded ON.
    • The TFT is 60-150°C.
    • The engine speed is greater than 450 RPM for 8 seconds.
    • The gear range is D3 or D4.
The Trans Slip Speed is greater than 400 RPM for 30 seconds.

When DTC 85 sets, the PCM will inhibit TCC engagement and 4th gear.

    Cheers Rob
