So red and black are easy to figure out, but can anyone tell me what yellow and green are for? Obviously one goes to 'lights on' - but I can't think what the last wire would be?
cheers
It might be a constant power wire, to keep the time when the ignition is off.

I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
Solved my own problem - soo easily.
Circuit board of the clock tells the story.
red B+ (battery positive)
black GND (battery earth)
green ill- (lights earth)
yellow ill+ (lights positive)
Too easy. But can I hook ill- to GND ? I don't get why they need to earth seperately?
cheers.
Here is a diagram. I am not too good at working them out but maybe you are. It is easier to read if you open the link in a new window.

Thanks mate, that's helpful![]()
how did you go with this?
im about to put a statesman clock into our vx calais.
im tempted to connect both grounds to each other. im thinking ground is ground no matter where it comes from.
Same here, advice appreciated. Also i was told easy to wire it upto the Hazard light wires, is that how you have done it?
I am very happy with mine. I installed it at the same time as putting blue LEDs in the climate control and new stereo install - so wiring it in was easy - I used battery +/- and 'lights on' straight from the stereo loom.
that looks awesome, wouldnt it be easier to fit a statesman facia?
Yeh - easier, and prolly a better result over all, but more expensive. The main thing for me was the clocks are easier to get a hold of than the whole fascia.
Ahahaha... I just noticed the song on the head unit... Quite befitting of the thread![]()

The VZ is here! About time!
I just bought a WH statesman fascia with all mode switch/clock/headlight/fog light switchs for $101,Cant wait to install it all!
Looking at the wiring diagram it is easy to see why it has a separate earth. Remember, you can dim the dash lights!! Therefore the yellow picks up the +ve from the park light circuit and the green negative from the adjustable ground point supplied by the Body control module. If you tie the green to chassis ground it will work, but your clock backlight will not dim with the rest of the dash lights.

This is a good idea. I recently replaced the head unit in my vt ss and subsequently lost the clock function. So I thought I'd get the statesman facia which has the clock built in. Woo hoo I thought. Smart thinking. Well until I found out I couldn't put it in cuz I haven't got climate control. Now seeing this setup with the statesman clock in a normal facia i'm gonna do this mod instead. Does the clock sit flush with the dash?
