The blower fan works fine on speeds 1,2 and 3 but stops completely on HI setting. Others posts mention it working on HI only (and sometimes 3) or not working at all.
From reading other posts it sounds like the fan speed resistor, yes? If so is replacing the fan speed resistor any different for a VT compared with kopper69's guide to replacing it in a VR/VS?
I've cleaned the blower fan itself - incredibly dirty - with no result.
Thanks in advance.
id be interested in knowing something about his aswell as mine does exactly the same thing
Assuming that it is the fan speed resistor seeing that it doesn't sound like a relay, is it the sort of egg shaped black box with two cables connected to it to the left of blower fan?
The hi speed has a separate relay, its under the dash. Swap it and see.
and FYI the holden relay is different pin configuration than a standard relay....
edit
sorry being a bit vague... I had the same problem and thought it was the same resistor, after looking further I found that the hi speed draws too much current so holden has an additional relay in under the dash for high speed. Its not obvious on the wiring diagrams. There are a couple of relays the same size under there. Can't remember what the other one is for. but if you swap them you'll likely find the high speed works.
As mentioned above. get the correct holden relay when replacing. even though it looks like a normal relay don't be tempted. its wired differently internally.
I found all the above out after pulling my car to pieces, blower fan out etc etc.. hope you read this before you do the same.
cheers
