    Unhappy accelaration dillemma

Hey guys, i have a 2000 VT S2 acclaim (130XXX klms) as my first car and i have a few questions, any help would be appreciated thanks

i recently got a 2.5" catback and soon as i drove it after this got fitted (by pro's) i realised IMMEDIATE power loss at take off, and it doesnt have a nice ring to it, it only has a nice tone in 1,2 gears soon as it hits 3rd and overdrive (4th) its just nothing cant hear a thing! Anything i can do to make it louder?

Also i floor the commodore from a standing start, (this is ever since i got the car about 3mths ago) and the car will all of a sudden die in its backside and lose revs and make a flutter or putter sort of noise and de-accelerate. When idling i rev it up let the revs go back down it gets down to low revs and yet again it putters for a second or so before idling as if it sounds like a V8 lol. I was thinking spark plug leads or fuel pick up problem? For the acceleration dillema? something along them lines? Anyone know what it could be?

Anyway any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers guys =]

    hey mate.
had the same problem with mine,
a new set of plug leads fixed the problem,
    if not,
take a look at ur spark plugs or ur fuel injectors might need a clean.
    hope this helps
450 good reasons to just power on

    yeaahhh

    disconnect your battery

    say for 1minute

    connect it,

start car hold revs at 3000rpm instantly, for 30seconds...

    then let revs drop down....

    an you should be sweet

first thing to do because its the easiest and it doesnt cost anything, take a look at your spark plugs, if you dont know what they should look like, there are plenty of pics on the net and charts of different indicators that you can get on your plugs.

another thing to do would be check your leads.

if none of this works.. whens the last time you cleaned your air filter? give that a blow out, aswell as disconectiong the airbox from the throttle body and spraying a can or two of carby cleaner down its throat getting rid of all the build up of crap on the butterfly, hold the throttle cable wide open and get all the **** out of there.

a can or 2 of carby cleaner down its throat? lol
your just gonna push everything down further inside which isnt a good thing.
remove throttle body and clean if your gona do it, can be cleaned still on the car but dont just open n spray. spray then scrub etc etc.
will struggle to start after a clean, get it going and give it some revs.

Resets all sensors etc... Idle air control etc etc etc.. Exhaust flows more, can cause issues possibly.. easiest thing to do...

Then take her for a spin to warm up and floor it
It tells the ECU that thats how you drive.

If you dont floor it, The ECU will think it cant do it and gets used to the granny driving.
You need to tell it whos boss and itl give you the power when you need it.

well first off, a larger exhaust will result in less backpressure, meaning engine has to work harder. ie loss of accelleration, but it will be more free flowing higher in the revv's where the power is made.

as for the fluttering ect. just replace all spark plugs and leads, give ur a maf/tb a clean, check for error codes - if any may aswell replace the sensor that might be causing it ect. could be dirty fuel also. also a doc bob memcal will help, ive only heard good things about his ecotec memcals, itll help with economy and power

i didnt mean that litterally, you dont just spray the whole can then walk away, spray, scrub, spray, scrub etc etc.. or take it off which is always the best.
