So I shorted my stereo system by trying to remove a hands free kit and cutting the chords that connected to it. My sound system is totally stock on my VT Calais '98, and I was just wondering since I shorted the stereo does this mean I have to get a new head unit and new speakers or what?
Help would be much appreciated, Thanks
When you short wires it generally results in a blow fuse, that is the purpose of a fuse, it blows, protecting whatever it is connected to. Try checking your fuses behind the panel below the steering column.
Just for future reference, never cut a bunch of wires together,if you must cut them, do one at a time.

I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
