Hey All,
I've searched through the forums and have a general idea of what could be causing the clunk / surge in my VX SS but before I take it to a Drivetrain Specialist, I thought I would get more opinions.
When shifting between 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd, there is a clunk which appears to be coming from the diff (Changing from 3rd to 4th, 4th to 5th and 5th to 6th is smooth as). I've have the diff flushed / oil changed but that has hasn't really resolved the problem. Also when slowing down or coming to a stop, there sometimes seems to be a surge which can be really annoying at times. Open to any idea's.
its called back lash
fairly common thing
cheers GM
Just had the car looked over today. There was a bit of free play. Apparently the diff requires a overhaul and the joints need to be replaced. Was quoted $1300 all up. Also, as the car is lowered, the joints will wear out a lot quicker than usual. Is that the case?
hey I have a VX SS auto and when I come to a stop and take off slowly I feel a clunk - not sure what it is but it happens when it shifts into gear.. any ideas?
