    Default VT calais "auto" headlights not functioning properly

    Hey guys,

    i have a calais with the "auto" headlights feature..up untill recently it worked fine..turnng on when it went dark and off when there was enough light..now the bloddy headlights always stay on and wont turn off even when there is enough light..i can turn the to the off position and just turn them on when it gets dark but i dont want to forgo this feature as im use to it..can anyone tell me how to fix this thing..im thinking its a faulty relay of some sort

    I think it's in the centre of the dash, near the windscreen.

    that explains it then..i recently bought a bloddy dash mat and its probably covered the sensor..so the sensor thinks its dark all the time..
    thanks for all your help..you would have thought that the mat would have had some kind penetration like the ones for the vents on it..

    i cant see a sensor per se..if its what i think it is..its the middle of the dash in a rectangular shape..but it looks far from being a sensor..just looks like the middle of the dash..i took the dash matt off and the sensor worked..can anyone point me in where exactly this sensor is before i go cutting up the dash matt..

    Heavy Duty Heatsink (H3406) - Dick Smith Electronics - Australia.

    then just cut it to suit, either put a fan on it or put in good airflow area, may want to invest in some heatsink compound as well
