My girlfriend's VT holden V6 auto wasn't starting, it could have been any part of the electrical system, as I wasn't there when she tried to start it. The battery light did however come on occasionally in the past when she had tried to start it, but that doesn't really clarify whether it's the battery, or the alternator or the starter or even the connections between them.
Anyway, her brother gave it a jump start and now it's worse. It makes a clicking sound now and she said before the jump it made a different sound. The digital clock on the dash now shows a number 1 and no time.
So, do you think this looks like a fried computer?
What does a number 1 on the clock mean?
Thanks
hmmm possible that its fried from the jump
I've just had a look at it and it looks like just a flat battery, the 1 on the clock is on the radio as that security code thing.
I'll put it on charge overnight, I hope it's just that.
Thanks
good luck with that mate hopefully only the battery.
its rare for the ecu to be fried from a jump start but it does happen.
sposed to use an anti-zap protector when jumpstarting cars with the ecu's in em
Hope I'm not too late to reply..
The reason your battery is flat is your alternator isn't charging the battery correctly whilst your car is running. Over time your battery will become flat. The battery indicator lamp on the dash tells you there is something not quite right with your charging system - not the state of your battery. Putting in another battery won't fix the problem.
Get your alternator fixed or replaced, then put in a new battery. That should get you going.
The fact that the car can still be started and running indicates there is nothing wrong with the ECU. The "1" on your digital radio clock is just saying you need to put in the PIN code since your battery was flat.
