    Question VT Aircon failure

Hi I sold my VT to my daughter and it has had a little problem develop.

The aircon has stopped working - that is no cold air blows. There is also a pretty nasty odour in the car like burned rubber.

I'm assuming this is fairly critical but am wondering if somebody can tell me what it may actually be - condensor?

    Thanks

unsure about the rubber smell?? but an easy and first step check is to start the engine and watch the a/c compressor on the engine. watch the clutch (which is on the front of compressor)attatched to the pulley, if the clutch turns with the compressor pulley, the compressor is charging, and the problem may be not enough gas in system. If the clutch isnt turning with the pulley, you may have several problems, i.e electrical fault, not enough gas in system etc, take it to an air con specialist then!

The burn't rubber smell sounds like...
1: Coolant burning in the heater core
    2: The heater core.

As for the aircon not being cold as it should, It may just need re-gassing.

yes true, the smell could be also be heater core leaking coolant onto evaporator core (where gas flows through) which is vented to dash vents. unless thats what you meant ozzie
