Hi,
VT recently refused to start. Seeing as its my old mans and he is away i decided to diagnose the problem.
It kept turning over nearly firing, i got it running for a second but it just coughed and spluttered then died. I persisted and pumped the throttle as it was turning over and it fired finally, I kept the revs up around 2k for a few minutes, it ran fine but idle was very rough and nearly stalling.
Anyway i noticed a loud hissing when i was revving which told me it had a vacuum leak so i removed the engine cover and inspected the throttle body to find a disconnected hose on the underside of the TB which led through the plenum to what appears to be a sensor attached to the back of the motor, with 2 hoses and a electrical connector attached to it.
Firstly what is this sensor?
I reconnected the hose back to the TB and the motor now fires and runs fine again, though the hose is very loose fitting, its a flexible plastic hose not rubber and there are no clamps to secure it at either end so whats the fix for this? I don't want it coming off again. I'm thinking of using some hose clamps?
Cheers
It's called the purge hose and it is a common problem for them to come off. You could buy a new one or use a clamp.

I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
