noise in drive belt area lsi hsv

have a like a grating rattling bearing noise in drive belt area . just wondering what the most common fault would be . souds like its in the top tensioner pulley . would it be in another area .

it does sounds like bearing rattling grating noise

Grab a short piece of hose or pipe and hold one end to your ear and the other end as close as possible to the pulleys one at a time and you should be able to hear which one is the culprit.
You can also use a large screwdriver, put the plasic handle to your ear and the blade somewhere on a non spinning part of the pulley.

Common one is the idler pulley. But alternators, powersteering, water pumps and aircon compressors can all be likely culprits.
Take your belt off...(dead easy job) and spin each component by hand and see if one is a bit tight or rumbly.

Check it out properly... cos if your travelling down the highhway one day and that pulley seizes, you will burn the belt off straight away and probably cook your engine before you know something is wrong. = BIG $$$$$$ Repair.

yep water pump was stuffed . replaced that along with others .water pump not cheap.
