I have recently bought a set of black altezza tail lights for my VT. I decided to tint the garnish to match up with the tail lights using niteshade and a clear enamel gloss (although it looks like it has a matte finish because I only had time to do a couple of coats). I thought it would be good to post some pictures in case anyone else was thinking of doing the same. I considered spraying it the colour of the car but I wanted to give this a go first.

yeah looks pretty good.... suprising you didnt paint it the same colour of the car im thinking of doing the same to mine

wow looks horrible, saying that will look better if u done it the same color as the car and get rid of the series 2 badge looks like its out of place without the others, and the sticker on the back window needs to be taken off, in saying that, thats my opinion and if Ur happy with that, then thats all that matters, its Ur car do what ya want m8, thats my opinion of it

As for the sticker- I like it

so yeah I wasnt really asking your opinions on that!

Im still waiting to see how I feel about it after a week or so...I got a panel beater lined up to spray it the mintue I decide it looks crap. For now Im reasonably okay with it....its growin on me...

ANy one else got anything to say?

Look alright, needs a few more layers, looks heaps mat-ed not shinny.

Can still see the holden letters through the paint ???

It states in the OP "let me know what you think". Did you expect all glowing reports on the defacing you have done to your car?

Not at all,-"totally lame" would have been fine. Im not tryin to gain compliments, I appreciate your honesty..maybe try to add what you would have done instead of taking the ****....ends up more benefical.

Sure. Leave the factory lights, tint them, paint the garnish tiga mita to match the rest of your car. Would look tidy. Any stickers are lame imo, esp unit ones.

dont like it, get a vx garnish paint it original colour and get some vx lights or a vx calais garnish aswell. even stock vt lights and garnish looks better

Your opinion basically missed the mark. He wanted to know what people thought of the altezzas with the black garnish, not comments on his sticker or the fact this stuff is on an Exec.

Personally it kinda reminds me of a VN look, which i don't think looks too bad if the black didn't look like a matte finish.

Not really my cup of tea though, and i think you will probably either end up respraying it in your cars colours in the end.

Hmm tbh it would look better with the garnish painted Tiger Mica.

But if you like it mate thats all that matters.

hey mate, nice car, like the look of the back, im still undecided whether to paint the back tiger mica or tint the back. Anyone got pics of a tiger mica with the rear garnish color coded?

It's not as bad as standard garnish with the lights, Or as bad a Calais VX garnish with them lights, In that way it's better but you know.

Just wanted to say that it would look nice in Orangy/gold, something similar to the car...

sort of a zoro mask look. it's different, doubt that most people would like it, which is why it's obviously never going to be a factory option. I can see how it is growing on you. Also good how you are open to go for the tiger mica or whatever should you get sick of it/ people keep baggin ya for it. good on ya for the job, get the black to match the black on the lights, or at least as close as possible to for now. that's what i reckon :P

Doesnt look 2 bad at all man but id love 2 see wat it looks like wen the suns on it. Dont b a sheep and revert back 2 the standard lights these look tops mate if u want 2 put a bit of a glossy finish on the garnish get a can of clear that allows u 2 cut it back and polish it up 2 give u the gloss look, the more coats u put on with nightshades wont make it any glossier.

I still think paint the VT garnish tho Dont bother with a VX 1 they r poxy aswell

lol just make sure u get urs prepped properly and get those reverse lines and around the edges filled/bogged up and sanded smooth but dont 4get 2 shave over the top where it reads holden, if it hasnt already in time it will sink the plastic so u will b able 2 see the words holden still. thats wat ive dun and u cant even tell.

It looks okish, I've seen much worse (for example, Monaro lights and standard VT garnish, or even worse, altezzas and standard VT garnish), though I still prefer the stock look

stock is the new modification with all these kids getting crappy cheap aftermarket gear for their bomodores.
