    Default Honeycomb Mesh grill inserts

I'm thinking of replacing the plastic grill inserts on my VX S-pack with honeycomb mesh inserts, because frankly I think the stock plastic ones look crap, does anyone know where I could obtain some in Perth, or would I have to do it myself? I saw an old thread from January where someone said to go to the local Autobarn, however W.A. is lacking one of those stores according to their website.

just to clarify, I don't want to actually remove the center bar (as per a previous thread), I just want to mesh the inserts

Just buy a sheet of aluminium mesh, it will bend into shape to the curves to fit the insert. I got a sheet for $30 from autobarn, but supercheap auto, repco sell it, maybe even bunnings, cut it to shape and hot glue gun it on check out my car, iv got pics of it done to mine (vt spak tho)

thanks for the replies, I think i'll have to pick up the mesh as per sxc_sound. Autobahn is a service repairer, Autobarn is an auto accessories dealer, so I think the previous thread i referred to was referring to the latter.

Just to let you know that the grille and front bar on the VX S and SS are one piece, unlike the VTs which can be unscrewed

They are just the mounting screws for the bar . i have seen a few VX S's with the VT chrome Calais grills in them . They look ok but you have to cut the VX ones out .

Well I've got the mesh, it's all underway, just waiting for the paint to dry...damn paint takes too long to dry...lol and like I was suggesting earlier, the plastic inserts just unscrewed and slid out, I've already put the mesh in and seen what it's gonna look like and it's lookin pretty sweet hey

    Looks really nice!
thinking about doing the some to my 97 VT
was it a bit of a struggle to do? or was it fairly straight forward?

It was fairly straightforward once I had the dimensions right, which took a while to get, make sure you don't cut too much off the edges of the mesh, and if you're going to put aluminium flywire behind it, make sure you have something that will hold it to the mesh properly (e.g. superglue is not a good option lol) as i said further up it took most of the day to complete partly because i didn't get the materials before hand, partly because i didn't get the template right first time, but mostly because i was waiting for paint to dry, if you're not interested in painting it, then you could have it done in an hour or two...
