ive been searchng through the forum and cant seem 2 find any definitive help.
plz dont flame.
but my old man is bugging me to fix his vx supercharged commodore.
it has a really rough idle on cold start
we have changed.
leads
plugs
cleaned throttle body
new o2 sensors.
new fuel filter
it doesnt seem 2 have any obvious vacuum leaks.
where else should i be looking. car has less than 70000kms on it.
fuel pump?
is there a way 2 check for error codes using the dash display ?
thanks guys.
vacuum leak imo, could be anywhere... i guess youve checked the usual spots, under TB ect. try around your injectors coz the orings crack sometimes, and even if a hose is pulled off the vacuum tank behind the glove box is a notorious spot...
yes you can check error codes, search the forums for the how-to.
Has any work been done to the car prior to this problem starting? Probably a vacuum leak. The L67 has a maze of vacuum hoses but like the other bloke said, check the one under the TB that goes around the back of the charger to the drivers side head. It can slip out if it is touched lightly and will cause a rough idle and high revs on cold start.
Any probs when driving at revs?
no problems once the car has warmed up . will double check for vacuum leaks
is there a way 2 check that the solenoid in the idle control unit is operating correctly
There is a volt range test but it's better to check the manula for that stuff. Wouldn't hurt to remove the TB and clean it
If it's only happening on start up, I'd be checking the fuel pump.
if the fuel pump was dying wouldnt it run rough all the time?
Nah, I've had a fuel pump go on another car and the only indication of any problem was rough start up then ran fine after start up and started fine when hot (I guess coz there was still fuel in the rails), then one day going around a corner the car just died. It's just another option to check (would also include checking pump relays, fuel pressure etc).
