Cant see the pulley as the photo is too dark.
On the VN's it's the tensioner pulley that make the same noise your talking about.

is this what i need to replace? or do holden stock them for around $30
dont buy the holden plastic crap.
get the after market ones from auto spare shops as they are metal.
While your at it and if ya can spare the cash do all three tthe 2 on the left side of the motor (1 grooved 1 not grooved) and the 1 on the tensioner (the bolt is a left hand thread). Cause at the end of the day all 3 pulleys have been spinning over the same amount as the one that is making a noise....
So better to do them at the same time save doing it later as it will only be a matter of time before the other ones get noisey..
theres a reson behind why its platic on some pullys and thats so it doesnt squeel
also remeber some pullies are backward threads
thanks for the info guys, its been heaps of help, im going to have a look at supercheap auto tomorrow to see if they stock the pulleys, i might replace all three as mentioned. Does anyone know what stores would stock the pulleys? supercheap auto, repco, autobarn?
Repco i know has them for sure havent had much to do with supercheap or any of the others as repco tends to look after me
Super Cheap have em in Adelaide. More than likely other states as well. If you get the K.C. (Kilkenny Castings) brand, the bearings can be easily replaced if they ever get noisy again. Don't know 'bout other brands!

i need to replace (in my vs) the one directly under the one in pic as it has sideway movement in it....the others were dry but i greased the bearings and there fine but this one is stuffed though.....i have to get a price tommorow
well i went and brought the one for mine today and also the one you need to be on teh safe side. The ones i got were metal ones and cost me 25 bucks each.
brand were NULINE
ok, iv bought my new pulley from repco, HOW THE HELL DO YOU REMOVE THE OLD ONE, that bolt is sooooo damn tight, that i broke 2 spanners and a socket trying to get it off, and yes i know its a left handed thread, how the hell do people get them off?
Are you trying to do the tensioner one if so...
Grab a socket and a 1/2 inch crack bar and push on the tensioner so standing on the drivers side of the car push the bar towards the pas side and it will come loose as its a left hand thread..
For the other 2 use the same crack bar with the right socket and undo normal as they are normal threads on those..
See pic below
success!, i got the pulley off and put the new one on, very happy with it, it is so much quieter now. i will replace the other 2 pulleys later down the track, thanks for all you guys help
did ya do what i said last night with the big bloody bar....
Only the tensioner pulley is left hand thread, the others are right hand thread.

I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
You might just be experiencing the squeakatech in action. Most VT V6's if not all sometime or other have it, Mine has it right now.
Some wd40 on it will quieten it down until changed.

Deffinately replace all the pulleys as I had total bearing failure in one pulley, snapped the pulley off the pedestal and threw belt off which wrapped around the harmonic balancer taking out balancer, crank angle sensor & cam angle sensor. Luckily I could do all the labour but parts alone at trade prices ran me more than $600. A $30 pulley seems extremely cheap, ahh hindsight isn't it a wonderful thing..... Also be aware that there can be different outside diameter of pulleys on series one or series two cars so make sure you get the correct pulleys for your engine model year.
this post is awesome!! will be changing mine this week and this thread cleared every thing up for me.. thanks guys!
