Default VX wont crank over

My VX Calais Supercharged wont crank over occassionly. It only happens once every 4 weeks or so, but its still doing my head in. I turn the key and get the lights and radio but the engine wont crank. Then if you try again after leaving it for some time it works. I've taking it to Ultra tune and they cant find the problem. They've tested batteries and alternators and connected to the diagnostics of the computer and still nothing,

C'mon boys, who can help,

cheers

maybe it might be in the shifter?

Happens to my VT on the odd occasion. It looks like its in Park but when I tap it, the engine turns over.

Dirty contacts at the solenoid to your starter motor. You'll have to take the starter motor out to change the solenoid.

Was going to say the same thing. Check the lead from the battery to the starter, make sure it is tight and that the plastic solenoid cap is not loose.

I had a similar problem once and it was the inlet manifold gasket gone and some coolant was leaking in to no 1 cylinder therefore the first time it would not crank and bit by bit the exhaust valve opened and pushed the coolant out the exhaust then the engine would crank and start it was exactly the same as a flat battery.

I live not far from Bosch, the mechanic i took it to has taken it to a company that works for Bosch, they are going to run a full diagnostic on it. I'll let you know what it is.
