Starter Motor Is in its Twilight Years

Hi Guys, The Beast has started to have trouble starting most of the time its fine, but occasionally is feels like its trying to start a 747. My mechanic says that the solenoid on the starter is dying and that they can't be replaced, it requires a new starter. How hard is it to replace? Do the headers need to come off on the near side to do this?

hi, replacing the starter motor should be easy, u need to remove the exhaust bit just after the headers and covers the transmission. for my car, vx manual, my friend only took two bolts to remove the starter motor from the flywheel.it should be very similar. and ur better at least trying urself and the mechanic can be plan b.
