k&n panel filter mate not so much for power but its in its own box being kept away from the engine heat which is better for ur engine and also u can do the old cheapo 2 hole mod which might see u pick up some power

In a vt 6 auto the stock CIA does a fine job

id go with a K&N panel filter, havent heard of problems with, pod filters can be classed as illegal depending on where you live, and can be a bit noisy too

Incase noone has said it yet Panel filter!.

I have run Panel and pod on my old VP. Panel stock was better then an aftermarket pod.
It just beat it all over rather then in one part the panel filter.

I just changed over to a Lukey Air Filter after 100,000k's with the K&N. I thought i would change since i ran out of recharge oil and cleaner, $45 from Bursons, and so far it is slightly better. I also needed to change the K&N as a relo dried it with compressed air, and i didnt wanna take the risk as you not meant to. Lukey is water washed, and can be compressed air dried.......so easier to maintain.

I think CAPA sell the enclosement for it for the V^6 etc. To try and make some aspects legal such as enclosing the pod.

wouldn't an enclosed pod filter do the best job?

    for example

COLD AIR INTAKE KIT FOR VT VX VY V6 "FACTORY LOOK" NEW - eBay Air Filters, Induction Kits, Performance Parts, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 16-Oct-08 01:45:34 AEDST)

or would a panel filter still be better?

also a newbie question but isn't the pannel filter at the front of the motor not to the side where the normal cai is? if it is.. why not have both?

hey mate, funnily enough i bought that CAI just to see how it went, i had a cop pull me over, and inspect it,
and i explained to him that i was tryin to do the right thing by enclosing the pod so it wasnt illegal or a fire hazard
and he said yup no worries cud c i was tryin and i was on my merry way.
i just bought a k&n pod for that setup as the stock aftermarket one was ****in useless (AND PINK WTTTFFF)
lol im NOT saying YEHH GET A POD FILTER BRO THEYRE THE PWNAGE THEY GIVE U LIKE A EXTRA 80 HORSEPOWER AND SOUNDS LIKE A TURBO ULEHHH
but it does give a little bit extra ive noticed, nothin huge, but its what u get..
    stil id recommend it.

Hey guys another newbie. I've noticed your all talking about the V6 pod vs pannel. I've a little 5 litre VT just wondering what people think of running the pod filter with the 8? Or again should i stick with a panel?

you really only gain a few kw by changing your filter. i have a pod set up in the stock air box with the 2 hole mod, works really well and is a cheap option don't have to worry bout cleaning it and if its enclosed properly you really don't hear it sucking that much.

He'd still have to run it through the airbox being a 5 litre.
So, labadar, go with the panel filter.
