Does your car hit about the same rev as his car does when depressing the accelerator by the same amount (in Neutral or Park)? If it does, its not your accelerator cable, its your clutch plate thats slipping excessively.

You have an auto, haven't you fatty?, Mine is the same, hafta bury the boot to get it to boogi!
Mine did the same thing.
Open the bonet, on the throttle body you will see the cable. On the cable you will see a nut on both sides of the bracket to hold the cable. Tighten the cable using those nuts as your cable is simply loose![]()
Dirty MAF, throttle body, or O2 sensors can also make Ecotecs feel sluggish.
Start by cleaning your MAF and throttle body (while you're at it take the slack out of the throttle cable like Ozzie said) and you may as well do the IAC valve while you're there.
Costs about $5 for a can of carby cleaner (I use contact cleaner on MAFs, because I suspect it's less harsh on the sensor, but lots of people reckon carby cleaner is fine) to do all those, then if you're still not happy try O2 sensors, about $120 from eBay (I've used this guy before, he stocks decent quality gear)
