Going to put my 19" GTS rims on my VX SS tommorrow and want to lower it, but don't want to go stupid like I have on my previous cars. I want to be able to get over speed bumps and spoon drains and stuff.
Mainly looking at the rear at the moment, what sort of spring should I be looking at, superlows, ultra lows?
Pretty much want it to look a bit lowered but not like a slammed car.
Any one have any pics of useable height lowered IRS VT+ model cars?
check mine out, its now on superlows.
ultra lows would be a bit slammed.
superlow is low but still legal. (keeping in mind the suspension travel)

Have a cap cook at mine also. It's lower at the front then the rear. I haven't rubbed it anywhere yet.

mines on pedders i think but they are the equivalent of superlows, its low, but not slammed. only time it ever scrapes is if i have a full load.
ultra lows would be scraping over gum nuts mate.

i Have king spring super super lows in mine and it scraps the cats against everything and thats with 15mm spacers between the spring and where it sits against the body. if you want it useable super lows are probebly low enough
ive got superlows in front, and ultra lows in the rear, ill get a pic tomorrow
fronts sit about 620mm from top of wheel arch to ground, and rears about 590 from top to ground. lowest part of the car would be the exhaust inbetween middle and rear mufflers about 100mm~
Mine are selby which are made by kings..
Just measured my height and it's 65cm high ground to wheel arch front and backThe same.
So that's 650mm front and rear.. That's not lowsThat's closer to superlows.
And yet the rear sits high.

cheers GM
super low front, ultra low rears, factory 16's
doesnt scrape if you go slow enough over bumps, only on driveways/carpark ramps ect if theyre steep

So yours sits on factory 16"??...
Mine does to, And i was wondering what height springs i have. @ 650mm front and back would that scrap in for superlows?. Lows are much higher right?.
This pic might make it look lower, As it had 75 liters in it's belly and about 25kg of shopping.

Thanks for that mate.. It's leaning towards SL.. I do want SSL or ultra rears. Way to high up the bum. And i like the way yours sits.

When you go with the bigger rims, Does it lower it more?. Because i was always thinking if i had SSL back with 19" it would lift the bum. But does it work in reverse?.

Doesnt really effect the hight of the vehicle though.
But say 18" which is the same as say 15" in overall diametre it will raise the car slightly. Not much that its noticable
Cool thanks, IS that why some raise their cars with 19" rims because they sit to far under the arch?.

You can BUT to keep your speedo the same and to keep it legal the overall diameter of your rim+tyre combination has to be the same. SO if i whack on bigger profile tyres onto my current 18's, it will raise it, but then my speedo will be out and it won't be legal. So if you up the size of your rim, you down the profile of your tyre to keep the diameter the same. Therefore it should have no effect on the height of your car. So essentially you can only go so big, before the tyre you require is too low a profile which doesn't exist.

I assume when you refer to SSL you actually mean UltraLow? As kings only have SL and UL. I would go SL all around, UL will be too low. Have a look here: King Springs refers to V8's but i figure the amount it lowers your car should be the same.

its on 18's
(i wasnt even booting it at the time, it squats down even further when i do)

bpotzz lol i would say thats an equivalent Ultra Low king spring... maybe even lower... looks pretty damn low if it isn't squatting that is...

go for a standard heavy duty low and it will lower your car by 30mm, superlows lower by around 35-40mm (realistically) and ultra lows are around the 50-60mm mark.
If you want to lower your car just that little bit (FE2 equivelant) then go a standard heavy duty low for your model car.
