    Default VT Speaker Size?

Hi, Does anyone know what size speakers a 98 VT Executive Sedan would take in the back? They would be on the parcel shelf right? Not the rear doors? Could someone show the steps to install the ones on the back for me?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
    Thanks

i belive ur model has none in the rear. if u pull the parcel shelf out there will be a hole there already just with a few tack welds to hold it in. bang that out and slide a pair of 6x9 in there mate really easy to do.

Yep. The cut outs in the felt parcel shelf cover don't line up exactly with the speaker positions, but i just screwed the grills onto that and it worked the same.

You can buy the grille covers for the VT VX models at most speed shops

You bolt the speakers to the steel underneath. That big felt piece comes out.

wont it look weird ? or is the parcel shelf like flat when you take it out.. i want the 6x9's sitting flush, not below the shelf or anything like that.

Well you'll have to build a custom shelf then. They sit in the steel below the shelf, and the grills sit over the top, flush with the shelf.

I scored some of the 8" subs from the WH statesmans, how exactly did they go into the statesmans and how hard will it be to have them in the parcel shelf of the VT?

exactly right, just cut INSIDE the groove in the carpet about half a centimeter then the grills clip into the groove nicely, just make some little slits for the clips on the grill, grills can be bought for $19.95 from autobarn, i got some not long ago

what do you do about the metal panel thats under neath that where it looks like the 6x9's need to mount to? it looks like it might pop out with the help of a flat head screw driver, havnt tried tho.

I'm looking at replacing all mine soon. Front/Rear Doors And Shelf.

What size are the doors 6" ?

And I'll just go the 6x9's in the self.

    ( Vx Calais )

Just have to find some decent speakers that will fit.

Each door had 6" speakers and the parcel tray has 6x9's.
the 6" splits are really easy to replace as all you need to do is take off the door panel, unscrew the old speakers, cut the wire, solder the old wire to the new speakers then screw them back in.
And with the 6x9's, you have to cut out the oval shape's in the parcel tray (make sure you don,t cut them to big or else the factory grills wont fit!) then punch out the two metal ovals under the parcel tray, then screw them in!
You will need to get some new wire to run from the head unit to the 6x9's, or you can run new wire from the splits in the back doors, keep in mind that if you run the new wire off the old ones then you will loose some power and therefore some sound quality.
If you want the best sound from your 6x9's then get an amp to run them. Well worth it! i have my Kicker 6x9's running off a separate amp from my sub and it really does make a massive difference!
If you run into any trouble then PM me!
