neon wiring help!

hey all.

i am trying to install some neons in footwells.

so far i cut off the cigarette plug form the neons, leaving the little black box attached.

i then ran and joined the two neons cables together which is in connectors and 2 cable also connected into that.

the two cables then go

1) (-) negative (all black neon wire) to little grey door switch in drivers door
2) (+) positive (black with white line on neon) joins to white wire with green line cable on drivers side middle pillar behind the seatbelt mechanism.

is this the correct way to get the neons to come on when door is opened?

when i open door nothing happens.

i've research and researched and cant get it working!. Help please

what am i doing wrong.

Have you considered just linking it up to the centre light wiring?

i have footwell neons but i connected it to a multi switch pad along with my tacho under the steering wheel, its quite handy
