I havent tinted my tail lights however I have tinted the garnish with niteshades ..
As you can see I had 1 decent coat (fairly thick) and second coat with gloss
You wont need as much as that for your tail lights, I used two cans ...

    copy cat, did mine first..

actually garnish done for 5 years or so, tailights were tinted then change to the ones you have when they first came out.

got a pic on my phone will see if i can attach it here. you have to host elsewhere i guess

I'll get a better one later, i made more changes to it after this.. this is done with clear/black mix comes out more glossy then. It is tinted as i've setup red led's behind it that show through the panel also.....I've added a chrome strip to it, and it looks better now with a match to the chrome in the lights. you can't actually still in this poor quality shot, but the reverse and blinkers have a chrome ring around them.

used to have full dark tinted taillights to match, but the cops didn't like them so went to these....

ok here is the current setup.

have a number of leds behind the panel, but some are disconnected currently for a redesign. didn't like the other position.

the lock is blocked off, but recently stuck a bullet hole over it

Thats the weirdest looking arse end on a vn I've ever seen. I don't reckon that body kit suits the shape of the car personally.

actually all my lights are surface mount led globes now blinkers parkers etc.

i did this after the tailights. a problem i found when doing this was the brake light leds would very slightly glow with the ignition on and no lights were on.

solved that with some help. solution was a diode or a small globe in the circuit somewhere. i put a wedge inside the boot to drain that leakage off.

the LED's in the garnish where should more go ???????????????? if any....

had some leds in the Calias/berlina position in the garnish at the top, but looks crappy when on at night. the led undiffused tailights didn't match the fuzzy tail light lens look from coming from the garnish. tail lights clear light and the garnish diffused (this part of the calais type garnish uses a diffused rough plastic on the inside).

was just going to put more leds down the bottom.

This is a Chevrolet garnish has that at the top, not Holden. Wanted to put leds behind that, but worked out i could not, to thin there and they use some reflective foil behind the letters.

Here is mine before and after.

    Before: when it was painted.

After: When I installed the VX garnish.

vx looks better on yours over VT, but tinted VT looks better on mine, sorta matches the look, well i think so. must depend on the car colour
