    Default Turbo for vt

Hi guys im new here this is my first post i dont know much about cars but i was thinking of puttin a turbo on my v6 auto vt. Has anyone here done it? and is it worth it? whats it likely to cost? also what other considerations are there. What would be the best thing to start with when reworking a vt engine. Thanks for any input

If you want to go down the turbo route I believe ProFlow do a kit for approx $6300.00 Soz I don't know if they have a site up. The Raptor kit is a complete setup for approx $5300.00 maybe less for the VT cause the existing memcal can be retuned.

Good luck with the search and upgrade to FI, you will be happy with the end results.

Would you be doing the install yourself? If so I would say bolt on supercharger without a doubt. 4 - 5 hours if you are handy with a spanner for the Raptor and it comes with everything you need, modified tune, injectors, piping etc. A turbo install would be a little more detailed, but as I say there are now kits around with manifolds, piping, intercooler, turbo included. I don't know if the turbo kits come with a modified tune though, if not you will have to get a tuner to match the tune to the mods.

It's the little things that add up. Do you already have exhaust mods? This is essential to get the most out of your forced induction. High Ratio Roller Rockers and tougher valve springs are also good insurance.

    A quick breakdown for you:

FI kits SC or turbo $5 - $10K
Exhaust (fitted) inc. extractors, highflow cats, and rear piping approx $1500
    Custom tune $800 - $1500
RR's and valve springs approx $1000

Cheaper if you can do the work yourself.

if theres not much money for you to do this i would think about doing other things to the car first that will help you when you do have the money. Instead of thinking how fast you can get out of it think about how its gonna handle at that speed and how the hell your gonna stop.

In short do some suspension and brake mods and get used to them before strapping on a ****load more HP. If you do it vice versa I will put money on it your car will be written off within 2 week cause you either couldnt stop or couldnt keep it on the road.

    My bad,

I should have mentioned I had already done brakes (DBA slotted and bendix ultimate pads), suspension lowered (pedders) and cleanup replacement of worn items (control arms etc). SSMAN is definately right about the safety first.

Add approx $400 for the brake setup, $1000 for the suspension and another $2000 for all other odds and sods, what can we say......modding cars for the long tern is bloody expensive (but still worth it )

take careful consideration into the tyres to, i know that the ones that i run on my car atm are only 150 a piece. but for the same size in the same brand that the cops use (obviously the best otherwise they wouldnt use them) it was about 330 a piece. Something must be good about them tyres. must provide long life and stick like sh1t to a blanket.
