Hi to Everyone
I have a major problem with a taco reading. We removed the fuel injection system and installed a carb with a MSD system. Now we cannot get the tacho working. When I take the Yellow wire from a 6010 MSD unit and connect it to the brown wire the tacho works but gives a reading of 6000 rpm instead of 3000 rpm. I have tried using a MSD 8913 taco driver and take the signal from the + of the coil
the reading is true. BUT it will now only register to 4500 RPM and needle is very shaky app 150 RMP either way has anybody had this same problem and how would I be able to solve this.
Please can you help
as long as you can get an accurate reading to 4500 RPM that shouldnt matter unless your planning on thrashing your VT?? but i can understand you wanting a better reading from your tacho, try hooking the brown wire up to the MSD 8913, that might work but i will have a look at the wiring diagrams and get back to you.

Hang on wait... you installed a carburetor on an ecotec?
Not sure on the tacho thing... good luck with it though...
there shouldnt be any problems but i think its with your unit, take it back and get a new unit that may solve the problem...
nice work putting a carby in a VT..... would of been hard work.

Ok... just going to show my lack of knowledge in the field now.
What are the benefits or reason that would motivate someone to put a carby on an engine that has fuel injection?

Hi to all
We put the carb system on the car as there was a lot of mods done to the car and then nobody could tune it properly. We used a Edelbrock rpm and a 650 holley carb hp increased app 60 HP Torque app 100 ft/lbs. Please reffer to edelbrocks web for more details or gm performance website. A bit more fuel is used but worth it for the Add HP we rev at app 6500 rpm and need rev counter. This unit is actually a 408.
Thanks
No it is the original tach on the dash
yea had the same problem on gen 3 on carb the earth needed to be grounded twice seperately and i i hard mounted the box no more issues
