    Exclamation WTF Dude!

    Okie doke...

I was driving along and all of a sudden my car started rough idling for about 3 seconds and then stopped...I was like $%#!...I looked at the telltale lights and noticed the check engine light was illuminated. I then started it again...it ran normaly for about 10 seconds and then stoped again. I rang RACV and the bloke came out and checked the battery first up...he said it was dead which it was so I had it changed...started up and it went for about 5 minutes and stopped again...Boy did I have the #@^%'s now! Got the RACV out again and this time made the mechanic check it thourghly...He suspected a faulty DFI module.

Do you guys/gals think that this is what is causing my issues? I think it could be out of the CAS, DFI or the coils.

    Cheers, Dwighty

Best thing to do is check the fault codes and that might guide you in the right direction. When the check engine light comes on a fault code is logged.
Here is a link to thread that explains how to read fault codes. You'll have to read a few of the posts before you get to it.

Ummm Crap!....I just tested for codes....all that I could see was 12 so that must be a good thing.

BUT!...when I was doing it a second time I accidently touched another connector which sparked...Now when I turn the key to accessories I get 3 series of beeps and what looks like the airbag light

I am guessing a major problem now

PS: I disconnected the battery for about 15 secs and tried again and same thing happened. I have noticed also the fuel pump wont activate, I have no central locking also. I have check all the fuses and they are fine.

Did you check the fuses in the engine bay and under the steering column?
To get rid of the airbag light you have to get it reset by Holden ot someone with a Tech 2.

Yeah I checked all relevant fuses in bonnet and under steering column...all I get is the system check, can not hear the fuel pump, and then the airbag light illumintaes and I get 3 beeps 3 times (beeep beep bep, Beeep beep bep, Beeep beep bep) CD player works, No central locking and wont crank at all.

I might have to cut my losses and take it to an auto elec

Should have just $#%^in left the $%# and not tried myself

I think maybe your fuel pump was the reason for your earlier breakdowns or did the RACV guy rule that out?

Ruled it out...when it started to shudder you can hear the pump still working so he said it can't be the fuel pump.

And futher to the BCM...I think I have frozen it. Does anyone know if you can reset it or do I have to get a new one or reco one?

ok disconnect you battery for 1 minute, this will thoroughly reset your BCM ECU and airbag module.
apparently it thinks you have set of the airbag its a safety feature that when it thinks or the airbag has been deployed it will shut off the fuel pump and all electrics except for the lcd display but sometimes it will even shut this off to, i have seen this many times and i am not even a mechanic.
just to be sure AFTER DOING THIS HAVE YOUR AIRBAG TESTED AT A HOLDEN DEALER AS IT DID NOT DEPLOY THERE IS A FAULT IN THE SYSTEM!!!

then there is a large fault in the electricals, try checking the fuseable links in the engine bay fuse box it is located on the drivers side behind the washer tanks if there is something major shorting out it will be blown if not try and ring holden for them to bring a techie with a techII out to diagnose the problem but may be expensive.

but if not your air bag is F**cked.... replace the airbag and get a holden techie with w tech II or your auto elec to reset the airbag switch

    Hey Sammo79

Yeah my car is fixed now. Took it to Holden, they reset the codes and found my fuel pump was kaput! It was draining heaps of power which explains why my last battery only lasted 6 months

What sort of symptoms is your car having?

First of all my remote won't lock/unlock the car, the car will turn over but cut out straight away and the red light on the dash keeps flashing. BCM is my guess. The car's been sitting in my garage for 2 weeks now......

Check your battery isn't dead...If that is fine then you should get it to Holden. It might just be a case of reseting the BCM.

Which red light is flashing and does it have any beeping along with it?

Ended up killing the battery after too many unsuccessful starts.... Had it on the charger all day yesterday and battery was giving me full power last night.

The flashing red light is the one above the Mode and Up & Down buttons- the immobiliser light..... No beeps.

When that light flashes the immobiliser is on, so the car won't start. I had that problem when I had my VT. Ended up having to replace the BCM. It could also be the key reader if you are lucky. You might need to get it the car checked out to avoid spending money on what it might be.

I've had the key reader replaced on Monday. BCM = Bugga!
