Default wheels.. how big / how wide?

ok all, ive been thinking about getting some rims for a while now.. started off i wanted 18"s .. then i was thinking about 19"s .. now im starting to wonder if i should go 20"s and be a heaps cool dude.

has anyone got any info about 20"s on vt's ?
my car is stock height but will be on superlows soon.

i am guessing i will have to roll the guards.
are 20"s illegal even if i get a small profile tyre?
ive heard the 2" bigger than stock law is a myth.. true or false?

and also how wide can i go?
i wouldnt mind getting some nice fat tyre in the arse end, thinking 245.. will they fit?

can someone help me out here please?

and is it worth going 20"s or should i settle for 19"s ?

because i want these apec delexi rims in black and they only make them in 18 or 20s.. and im keen for the 20"s

    cheers in advance =]

check with ur states roads authoritys to see what the legal limit is.
here in Vic we go on overall diameter of the rim with tyre no more than 15mm from factory specs.
so theyd have to be LOW profile. lol

on sl's you may need to roll the gaurds or you may get away with it depending how wide the tyre is.
if you use standard shockies when you lower youll most likely need to roll the gaurds.
235's you might get away with

you should get away with 20"s on 235's without having the gaurds rolled.
but if you lower to the sl's youll need to get shorter stiffer shocks or it will most likely scrub even with 20's on 235's

ahh ok, thanks mate. yeah i didnt worry about getting shorter shocks.

ill see how the springs go on my stockies, let them settle for a while and see if they scrub at all. if they dont ill just chuck some rims on lol

its no biggie for me to get the guards rolled, im not worried about that..

20 inch, black rims, deep dish, chrome lip, white walled tyres on superlows.

    im getting excited lol

defect from police is not really what im after though =S

Its probebly the same bouncyness when lowered, but i recon you can feel it more because of the distance between road n car.

no idea of the width of a vt or the wheel arches though

ahh.. so you're not allowed to go more than 15mm in diameter more than stock, so really the biggest i could legally go would probably be an 18" with say a 35 profile tyre. am i right there? cos my 15" stockies have a massive profile, go up a few inches in rim size, and take off a few inches of tyre wall profile and you cant really go that big, [legally]

and it says i can only go 26mm wider =S

i think my stockies are something like 205 maybe.. that sucks lol.

oh well, time to start doing my car up illegally =D

watch out boys in blue here i come =S

im gonna go 20"s stuff it, might as well.. im most likely gonna get in ****t if i get 19"s anyway lol

you could probebly go as high as 19" with low low profile 35 tyres and still be within the 15mm keeping it legal

Even wheel dealers wouldnt recommend going over 19" to be safe though.
personally i'd go 18" or 19" with the 35's. they still look big when the cars lowered

Going for the 19s will keep the price of new tyres down a fair bit. i personally don't like commodores on DUBS but that's just me.
I'd go 19s, but white wall my tires, makes the rims look heaps bigger so most people would think they be 20s and you wouldn't have any rubbing at all! no need to roll your guards

A 20" rim with 245/30 are only 11 almost 12mm bigger diameter than a 17" 235/45 so if your car was optioned with the 17" your right. and if you use 20" with 245/30 with the right offset 45p and right load rating it would be legal and fit with guards rolled.

pretty sure u can only get 225's with 20s mainly on the fronts coz they scrub on ur struts? 20s looks homo coz u can never get a fat tyre under there but if i was u id go 19s at least u can get the 235s with those.
