    Default Uh oh. Engine ****ed?

    I have a VT ecotoc 3.8, 250,000k's serviced regularly.

No real mods, just 2.5" cat back, pacemaker extractors

    Was cruising along today, about 70k's an hour, put my foot down a lil bit and then D D D D D D D D D D D D D.

It's like... whenever it gets over 1500 revs it makes this wierd noise like its missing hardcore.. sounds like a ****ing boat.

I drove it home about 500m luckily i was almost home.

It has fuel, oils are fine.

Someone told me it could be the catalic converter as its still the old one and they lock up?? O_o

The engine idles fine its just when you put your foot down in gear, it misses hardcore, i cant explain the sound its not a knock from the engine, its the exhaust and the car is slow as ****

    arghhhhhhh hate my life

ahm.... under your bonnet to the right when facing the back of the car you have the black square packs with 1 2 3 4 5 6 on them theyre your coil packs the leads running from that are the spark plug leads
make sure they are on the coil packs properly.
for the spark plugs get a 16mm spark plug wrench(from your local supercheap or repco) and undo them ANTI Clockwise and then when your return them to the engine turn then clockwise (hand tighten until tight then do 1/16ths of a turn or 1/4 of a turn if you have spark plug gaskets

You really need to learn those things yourself. Get a both a Haynes and Gregories together (workbook) from Repco, Supercheap etc. Who did the major service for you ? Best time to do a service anywhere is when they ahve the voucher on the back of the shopping dockets "$200 Full service at Booran Holden etc" or sometimes Ultra Tune drop em in your mail box then i would do it as they may include coolants flush etc etc. Even then since doing my own oil changes, filters, plugs etc, i only go the mechanic if something brakes and i cant find out what, most suspension things that i need a hoist for/hard to reach places underneath etc.....
