There are 2 handle things under the bottom part of the seat, one on each side. You might have to lift the front of the seat a little to find them. Pull these handles down towards the floor while lifting the seat, one side at a time, and then it should come out. Then remove the bolts that hold the backrest in place and unhinge the top.

I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
Very hard to remove the bottom cushion if you follow the instructions given in workshop manuals. Easiest if you slip your hand in between the cushions towards one side. Pull the rear of the bottom cushion upwards until it clears the bottom of the back cushion. Do the same for the other side. You can then easily move the bottom cushion forwards and off the two brackets that hold it at the front. Once the bottom cushion if off you will see the bolts holding the rear cushion and can remove it as well.
Oops, sorry, forgot I had changed forums, thought that I was still in the VR/VS forum. Haven't had the need to remove a rear seat in my VX yet.
thanks heaps spot on the money

Old thread sorry.
Does anyone know if you can get away with just undoing one side to get into the rear seatbelts?? Reason being I just had baby seat installed a couple of days ago,,, really don't want to be ripping it out already.

Awesome
Just a trip to bunnings in order to get the bolts out (I only buy really cheap tools, i ALWAYS lose them).
I did have a look today, but it still wasn't clear how the back rests came out...
