    Default mixing mufflers..bad idea?

hi guys. i could be completely wrong here, or it might not even be possible, but i bought an xforce exhaust a few months back and didnt like the sound (super6). anyways, is it possible, and would it sound alrite, if i mixed the front muffler from my stock exhaust with the back 2 from the xforce.

is this possible, and will it sound really **** or what? im after a slightly quieter sound than what the xforce produced.

    thanks guys

You say the XForce had TWO rear mufflers? Odd.
There is no problem whatsoever in mixing and matching mufflers, i'm surprised a lot more people don't do it. There really are so many variables in an exhaust to make it sound different at various rpm's....amount of bends, size of bends and tube, expansion tubes, etc etc. Go for it.

Those two front 'mufflers' you speak of are your catalytic converters. Leave them be. There is no problem at all with changing your muffler to get the sound you desire. As for the flange sealant, most are incredibly strong, i've tried leaving bolts out of a flange and operating the vehicle and it stayed intact. Best bet would be to put one or two bolts in loosely and push against it with your foot to dislodge it or hang your body weight off the joint.

Ok, so you're shooting for 3 mufflers all up? that should fix the noise issue, you might end up being too quiet, almost back to stock depending on the mufflers you use.

the rear box is generally a resonator, stops pops and crackles in exhaust during deceleration normally.
