knowing all that, would anyone happen to know why its still leaking? i appreciate any help and advice
Well you sure have spent a lot of money in a short time. Maybe we can help but we need to know where the oil leak is.
MY RIDE
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
put a bunch of white paper under your car and leave it for a few hours, put some under the transmission as well
then tell us where the oil is dripping,
photos might help us figure this out as well,

If the servicing mechanic has not been able to locate the leak while underneath the vehicle, apparently on more than one occasion, how can us lot know even where to start?
Pablo
pablo, becouse i know a load of mechanics that are dumb ****s, just like you apparently, and WE are tyring to help , so shut the **** up n go play in traffic![]()
oh yeah and aella , if u could find where the leak is coming from, have a poke around the engine bay and follow the leak, might give us an idea of where the oil is coming from,
Mark
my friend she had the same kind thing and its cause the mechanic didnt do up the sump plug properly long storyyyyy i think thats what its called i forget this **** but yeah so she kept goin back and he kept doin the same thing and he kept chargen her than i went under and yewww look wat it was its never that simple for anyone else though but yeah he could be trying to screw u
well the more u know about your car the less likely you are to get screwd by mechanics
very true...
i have an oil leak from my main rear seal, its a really small leak but has the potential to play havoc......
just thought this might be something to check its the seal in between the Engine and the Transmission

yeah if not then I'll look through my Gregory's repair manual and see what else could be leaking for ya.

thanks, i appreciate it
Also with the sump plug, make sure there is a crushable washer with that sump plug, I had my falcon serviced and the dealer for warrenty and they forgot to put it back on, leaked like a siv.
I would clean the engine down with some degreaser and a hose when cold (covering electrics with plastic bags) and make sure all is clean. Take it for a quick drive under load and then take a look. Mechanics use a oil die that makes the leak easy to spot but if all is clean it will be much easier to see.
I would start looking at tappet covers (very common), sump gasket and the rear main. Also the paper idea is a good one which would tell us where the oil is dripping, and go from there, good luck.

The start point is to find out where. Buy a few cans of spray on degreaser. drive until the engine is warm. Degrease every mm of the engine and gearbox that you can reach - from the manifolds down. Everywhere. Take your time and do it really well.
The let the engine idle up to warm again while standing still. Look all over it for oil leaks - That will give an indication as to where (rocker cover gaskests, trans cooler hoses etc).
Good luck
Seems like the mechanics keep coming back and doing the Rear Main Oil Seal. First id identify what type of oil it is if it's engine, trans, power steering. Engine is black and trans and pwr str is red if in good condition or a honey colour if you have a manual. If the engine is dirty give it a good degreasing everywhere even in places you wouldn't think you'd get an oil leak. If the leaks is from the bell housing area with the engine bolts to the trans/gbox check for cracks around where the seal sits or excessive wear, a little far fetched but i've seen some pretty bizarre leaks in my time. It's hard to diaganoise if we can't see it for ourselves but hopefully take these simple steps and process of elimination should get you there.
