    Default Leaking Battery

my battery seems to be leaking acid , which is no good, so ill replace it , but other than a faulty battery, is there any other reason that would cause this? before i go out and buy a new one, sits on 12.6v and when running 14.3v , so i assume its not overcharging?

also what are the round about prices on those closed cell types, optima etc? for a v6

it can leak if it is filled too high with water , if it is overcharged , or if the caps are loose.
There's a recent battery thread on here... try the search. Some say Bosch Gold batteries are good ( I have not tried them myself )!! ?

if the alternator is producing 14.4ish volts then it should be fine.
If its producing something higher then normal like 18v then the rectifier on the alternator's gone
