Gents,
While driving my VX on the highway at speeds around 110km/h to about 140km/h and when braking from 80km/h or higher - there is a shudder in the steering.
Is this just warped rotors or something more sinister???
Any suggestions on what the problem is and how to fix it would be great.
Cheers.
possibly wheel balance or alignment to...braking shudder could be a combination of balance and rotors
Check out my ride here...E Series Chubby
i have the shudder from my wheels it was that my wheels had not been balanced properly, i needed a wheel alignment and i had warped rotors

If its only happening when you're braking then it'll be because of warped brake rotors.
my vt wagon does this as well. But only with meduim braking.
no vibration on light or full on braking.
i had this prob , and it ended up being warped rotors
my vx s did the same thing first time it happened thought my front wheels were fallin of lmao but was due to warped rotors replaced emn new brake pads fitted stopped the shaking and shudderin so i suggest you get ur brakes checked out
hope that helps mate!!
Hmm... I thought warped rotors also pulsed the brake pedal.....More apparent in brakes than steering. Oh well that answers my question.
Might want to have a look at the bushes on the steering too - I have a VX2 wagon - and the bushes (cant find the name of them to tell you but they are located behind the wheel) are stuffed - this causes tyre rubbing on the inside and a shudder as well. You also get a "dink dink" (imagine that if you can) sound when you go over bumps.
If its just when you're braking - the rotors are the most likely problem - but its its while you are driving too - might wanna have a look at the suspension bushes too.
got new front end rubbers from pedders. all fixed now.
the test
drive slowly and brake. keep your foot on the brake. have someone else look at your front wheels.
if when the brake is released and your tyre jumps forward you need new front end rubbers.
got a slight shudder back
i think its the shocks wearing and putting the alianment out.
I had the same problem replaced the front rotors and pads ,radius rod bushes and most of the front end bushes but couldn't find the problem. It gave me grief for about 6 months. The front used to shake pretty bad over 80 kays but the brake pedal didn't pulsate .
I took it to Brakes Plus and they put the car on the rollers and It turned out to be the rear rotors that were warped . Might pay to do the same before you start spending $$'s

fixed again
my front rotors became under size and started to warp

Definately Rotors ....i use to get a problem at lower speeds where the shudder was that bad it would move the console around the automatic gearbox.....holden replaced the rotors at 40,000 kms ...problem holden had gone from bendix to a new third party brake pad which damaged the rotors
