Don't get one that is covered in dust, means it has been on the shelf for a while.
Also, don't buy batteries that they store on a concrete floor, apparently they micro discharge and go dead.
It's hard to say a particular brand these days, I bought one from supercheap years ago for my VT, it was in that car for a year and a half, then I gave it to a mate who used it in his car and sold it along with the car...it was over two and half years old.

Don't fall for gimmicks either. Just get a decent looking battery rated for your car.

Century or exide, never last in our cars. 2-3 years and they are dead, perhaps that is average but hardly acceptable.
Just had a supercharge one die, 10 years. pretty good , and thats in a car used as a daily where for two cold starts a day we'd crank it to get the oil pressure up before switching on the ignition.

Ive recently purchased a couple of ac delco batteries, well priced and seem up to it.

Bosch. The Best. And the Batteries on the Concrete discharge is a b/s theory. They don't. The only reason batteries discharge is because people store them without cleaning the tops with bicarb soda. Therefore any leaking electrolytes earth out on the top of the battery, therefore discharging it.
If its not working, you're not hitting it hard enough.

Can't say i've ever had a bosch but most of my customers use them in their trucks and don't have problems.

..and don't forget, to get the best performance from a new battery, Always give it a trickle charge BEFORE installing in the vehicle.
This info taken from several battery manufacturers web sites!

One big problem with the ac delco's is the import them in bulk(from asia) so they tend to sit around for a bit b4 there sold and fitted

with you exide and century they are made in aus.
btw, the exide x56c gets my vote. 550 cca and a 3 year warrenty. and u can pick them up from kmart for a good price

    Not entirely true.

I work for Supercheap Auto and dust can get on the batteries within a week of them being delivered.

What you look out for it the date stamp on it which is a little coloured tag tht says *letter* then *year*

    So a Dec 08 would read M08.

Picked up 2 AC Delco battery sealed from holden for $90-99 each. Huge CCA and warranty. Got a little green light to show you it's all charged good.

Get the Puma Batteries, used in Forklifts, and cold crank about 450 plus..... Sealed ones are the best with the indicator. Most batteries are the same apparently, they just put different stickers on. $99 a battery is pretty cheap.
