Default advise on tail light set up....

ok guys, to be straight forward i am sick of my altezza/plain vx garnish rear end setup. seems like every second vt-vx i see has the same combo.

    im keen on something new.

im a fan of the vx calais/berlina look... ive been looking around and all vx tail lights look the same. so im thinking i should just buy cheap vx exec tail lights and they would be the same as the calais/berlina ones?

as for the centre garnish.. im guessing berlina and calais ones are the same.. it also looks like clubby ones are the same too. would assume berlina would be the cheapest option...

does anyone else think this tail light set up will look nice on my car?

and where are the blinkers on vx tail lights? in the white part along with the reversing lights? or are the reversing lights in the garnish.. oh no, im confused.... anyone help please?

    cheers in advance

if anyone has any pix of a black vx berlina/calais rear end it might make my mind up for me too haha

I definitely think that the Berlina/Calais/Clubby look is better then the common as Sigs look that people have going with Monaro lights.

Ive seen the lights for sale for quite a normal price on ebay and online car parts shops, as the for the centre garnish piece they are a little harder to find and i havent a clue as to what they go for from holden.
As for how they will look on your car, it will be awesome. I remember at a car cruise sitting behind a few debadged Clubbies thinking how good the lights look on them.

    ok another question...

lets just say i already have a calais/berlina garnish [is there any difference between calais and berlina????????] .. and i happen to stumble upon some cheap non vx calais lights that have the blinker and reverse in them...
could i put them in and just not hook the reverse lights up to the lights but run them to the garnish instead? know what i mean?
i dont want reverse lights in the lights as well as the garnish..

some dude on ebay said that, berlina lights are the same as s and ss and exec and have blinker and reverse in them... but berlina's have the same garnish as calais [i think] so that means the lights should only have blinkers in them... and the reverse would be in the garnish, lol.

    im confused as hell.

could i go that way about it or will it look crap?

and are the stop lights in the garnish or tail lights???

and where are the driving lights? garnish or lights?

if anyone has some pics it would help alot.

i need to know by tonight, cheers guys =]

Calais/Berlina lights have reflectors in the lights they are different from the execs. The lights are in the garnish as well here is a pick the reverse and the blinkers are in the lights the 2 clear lighs in the garnish do nothing

hmmmm vts with vx garnish looks gay !! but what about it on a vx ??
as i have a silver vx s with the stupid ricer silver monaro tail lights .
hmmm i think it looks good . but then again im a kiwi .
but then again i wouldn't put the silver lights on a black vx i would go for the black tail lights.
and i only like the monaro style with the round lights as round tail lights look cool
all fast cars should have them cause they look like after burners on a jet plane lol .

666vt, how are ya buddy?? Heres how it works, all VXs have the same brake light set up of the brake light, reflector, blinker and reverse light in the light assembly. The Berlinas and Calais have the garnish across the boot, the only difference is that the Calais has the silver trim across the top of the number plate. The Calais and Berlina have brake lights in the garnish. Hope that helps

The only thing i would consider, is because i have a Burgandy car, the authentic Red Monaro lights will blend alot nicer with the car, and im yet to see a car with that sort of combination.

But everyone has done those lights to death, same with the Sig rims. I like how they both look, but because everyone else has done it i dont want to.

change anything you like so it doesn't look like the other 2 million cloned cars around i say.

although chrome tail lights with a vt oem red garnish looks very crap. chrome lights are for ricers real cars need black....

not sure about SS badges on a 6. mines an 8 but i prefer no badges so no one knows what it is.

i prefer one off custom stuff, but that gets rather expensive. such as a custom plastic front bar, fibreglass sucks. Or custom lights but one off designs cost big bucks. So just get the latest things like lights now and then so you don't see to many like yours around.

i must say their are a lot of executive V6 HSV's around

red car red lights is good even with calais ones. what you get does depend on the colour of the car.

my girlfriends dad has a red vt clubsport with cv8 tails and a vx garnish, looks good i think, he used to have black ones like mine but also got sick of everyone else doing the same lol. red naro ones look better anyways, even though everyone on here will probably bag him out for 'wrecking' a genuine clubby

I think some people might eventually find themselves in the crap after changinging to vx tail lights for the simple reason that the calais and berlina ones have reflectors in them so in a legal way they would be alright in a vt, but if you put standard vx lights on a vt then you will find they don't have reflectors in them cause the vx has them in the bumpers and by law your back end needs reflectors. If you get a smart arse cop pull you over and you have standard vx lights on your vt and no reflectors on your bumpers then he will give you a defect.

On my VT I have the standard VX garnish and a the VX Calais/Berlina tail lights with the reflectors in them for exactly that reason. I'd seriously thought about a VX Calais/Berlina garnish but couldn't be stuffed forking out a couple of hundred bucks for it seeing as it is a town & shopping hack most of the time. I like that look, but I'll settle with the plain garnish. Each to their own.
