Hello all, I have an issue with a VT purchased recently, so annoying I may have to sell the car. The doors creak. Windows (electric) down, creaking is greatly minimized / stops. Windows up against the stops, the creaking is terrible. Every bump and camber change in the road causes it. I figured it was the felt / rubber strips that go around the windows in the top of the doors. The felt looked a bit worn and shiny, so I replaced them. The creaking is now even worse. Did I install them wrong (was I supposed to put adhesive on them to 'stick' them up into the doors)? Was I supposed to use dry grease / graphite in there to stop the rubber creaking against the painted metal upper of the door itself? I've spent $150 for nothing getting these things. The car has done a genuine 48k's, drive beautifully otherwise. The creaking in an otherwise quiet ride seems so loud. It's distracting to all occupants? I'm at wit's end. Any suggestions?

In desperation bought Bob's Dry Lube from Supercheap and coated teh inside of the weather strips, the surfaces of all teh rubber seals that mate. Appears to have more or less 99% solved the issue...![]()
I read somewhere else that if you rub some CRC Belt Grip on the top of the door seals it will shut them up, but i don't have any and am not sure if this is a true solution or just BS. Does anyone know?
Thanks for the tip U238, my VT has this problem too (like most VT's it seems) so i'll try the Bob's Dry Lube.
(btw you're right about the later VX/VY flock-lined rubbers not working - like you i tried that on my VT with no luck. Anyway i was told by the dealership that holden went back to the VT-style "no flock-lining" door rubbers for the VZ. Made me look like a goose!)

The felt rubbers do the same thing. my vt s2 wagon gets on my goat for all the noise the doors and windows make.
use a gd silicone spray on door hinges that should keep them quiet for a while
