    Default defects in qld

    has anyone been defected?
i just got new exhaust today, pacemaker extractors, 2 1/2in cat back, high flow cat, 1 muffler, no tip and it sounds awsome, ill record and post wen i get a chance but i think it could be to loud. usually i wouldnt care, but seeing im a p plater and already racked up 7demerit points in the last month in speeding tickets. (we only get 4, im on 1 year good behaviour). if i get a prick of a cop can i lose demerit points for to loud of an exhaust?

cos if i lose more than 1 point in the yr i lose my licence for 6mnths

Yes mate, in general if your driving normally not revvin the guts out of it you should be right, but don't be a smart ass coz they will do ya for "undue noise" . I got done last year on the M1 at yatala coz they had already pulled someone up so I decided to just throw it in neutral and rev the guts out of it as I went past and they chased me down and gave me the yellow piece of paper.

I haven't got the specs at hand but if it seems the slightest bit loud it will be over the standard allowed. Seeing you fitted a new exhaust the cops will deem that you made it too loud deliberately and will not be gentle on you ( unless your a 19 year old blonde chick) LOL

When the emission control laws started to come out in around 1976, it was an offence to alter the exhaust to anything other than 'factory specs'. It could only be done with the written approval of the local government regulating authority, but judging by the exhaust volume of a few cars around, I don't think it is policed very much. It appears to be up to the individual copper if he/she feels like pinching you. A local seargent mate of mine, told me he doesn't worry about non standard exhausts unless the driver is making a c**t of himself. I can hear his sports car coming 2 blocks away! LOL.

if you've lost 7 demerit points in one month for speeding, then its sounds like your the kind of tool p-plater who should have his licence revolked.
i hope the cops do come down hard on you for the exhaust and take your licence
at least then that would be one more idiot off the roads and you wont kill yourself or someone else

under the new p-plater laws your not allowd any performance mods. extractors are classed as a performance mod. so you could loose more than 1 point.
