Exclamation Drivers side headlight not working

    Hi all,

My drivers side headlight stopped working the other day. Have checked and tested the globes, fuses and relays and all are OK. The passenger side headlight and all others lights are all working fine. I was wondering if disconnecting my battery for an hour to reset the BCM would work?? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Thankyou

Try puting the one from the passenger side in just to make sure that the other one is at fault . Is the easiest and cheapest way to go first up .

have you checked the wire connectors lol..... if they are in properly then i would trace the wires back to the relay if that doesn't work then call in an auto elec because if it was your BCM it would be that both lights don't work.

Have a look inside the plastic conector that plugs into the light and check to make sure that all three wires are in place and havn't come unclipped

I know this is an old post but I have the exact same problem and before I take it to an auto elec I was wondering if the problem was resolved?

I think there is a fuse in the engine bay where the relays are located that has something to do with this. Check to see if one of them is blown. from memory it is a 20 amp fuse.

Thanks gc5571, the fuses are fine so I have to trace wires, check relays etc, the seach continues.

Does anyone have a diagram of what fuses and relays are in the engine bay fuse box - my stick on guide under the lid is missing so I have no idea what is what, thanks.

Was just looking around for the easiest way to get to the driver's side headlight bulb on a VT, and took pity on you! Here's a pic I just took for you (good luck with finding the problem! I hate electrical gremlins):

(By the way, I just thought to check whether you have a VT or VX.. my pic is from my VT II Berlina; I imagine your VX will be the same - if anyone who Knows is reading this, hopefully you could confirm!)

Well, I'm off to remove the battery and install these Philips +50's I just got, replacing the stockies on both sides since I already have to replace the driver's side bulb. Here's hoping they're similar to the Narva +50's which I remember really being impressed with!

Thanks cragv, it's a VX S1. A guy at work has a VT Calais so we checked and all the things are in the same place for the engine fuse box. So we checked fuses, relays and wiring - no joy. Then my friend thumped the egde of the light and bingo!. Go figure, nothing like percussive maintenance.
