    Default airbox/two hole mod

just wondering..if i use a hole saw and cut a hole in the front of my airbox and then stick some pipe from the hole in the airbox to the front bar/ grilles on my vt if that will work instead of doing the hole 2 hole mod thingy?

it may even be the same haha if any one can give me suggestions..its a stock as a rock vt series 2 s pack. im going to eventually get a a full exhaust and tune up soo what can i do?

Check out the "how to" section... it's got a few items under "CAI" that document really well what you're talking about, there's even pictures and such.

My CAI mod on my VY SS ute (series 1)
no you dont use a hole saw
you mark the hole one the air box then get a drill bit and drill around the mark of the hole then you file it smooth

You're right in that it's easy to suck hot air. I cut a hole from the front passenger side of the air box on the corner and squeezed some flex pipe right up behind the headlight next to the fender panel. No hot air there.

at idle you may suck some hot air but soon as you are moving you would be getting cool air from behind the headlight

I just made up the intake pipes for the 2 hole mod and found an easy way to flare the pipe ends. Get a COLD 2litre bottle of coke, flare the hot end of the pipe over it the top of it after heating the pvc pipe on the bbq burners, takes about 3 minutes to flare both pipes, and the cold coke bottle cools the pipe to the right shape! EASY!
I actually got an empty bottle of **** and filled it with water and put it in the freezer for a firm edge, very easy to do

has anyone adapted a CAI to fit the vz? I have heard alot of for/against argument on the 2 hole mod and think if you could isolate the airbox a bit better so air only comes from the front it would be better.
I have dont the mod and notice the "growl" noise more, and slightly better response, but I think after idle and heat soak when at lights etc, the power is not there like when at speed.
I think if you could isolate the intake more it would definitly be better.
No way am I paying 300 for this setup

But there must be a cheaper way to acheive the same result
