How much does it cost to swap over an engine?

Just wondering how much does it cost to swap over an engine? just a straight swap for a vt v6 or ab i better off swapping supercharged?

it depends if you want a DIY job it will be the price of the engine depending on what you want if you want power then a supercharger which will be around $1,900 just the engine but if you want what you have now it will be about $1500 or if you want to go with a new engine i would pay about 4 grand and get an alloytec fitted (by a pro because there is some accelerator modification and BCM modification that needs to be done), but if you want a pro to do to fit an Ecotec V6 will be about $2,000.

supercharged eng swap around the $1800 - $ 2000 (+++)

straight swap at wreckers would be probably around the grand mark if u really look around.. i mean here in brisbane ther are a few places taht do it around the 1-1.5 thousand dollar mark. but as above said pro's would be up around the 2 g's mark upward..

I was looking around for prices for engines and fitting it on the weekend, I went to one wrecker it was $695 for the engine which had done 140,000kms and went to another wreckers which was $800 which had done just under 100,000kms. Also asked my local mechanic how much it would cost to fit he said $500 mark. Would it be worth getting the engine for $800 and what questions should i ask about the engine before i buy one.

yeah thats not a bad price mate...

just make sure u get some sort of warranty with it and get ur mech to go over it he may charge i dunno ur mech but its probably worth it... and make sure u kno its not stolen for one LOL

ummm K's obviously if its genuine k's or not mech should be able to tell or u cud if u kno the signs to look for wear and tear etc.

yeah prety much just suss out everything dont wanna be getting rippped specially with some wreckers.. bit dodgy sometimes others are good just gotta be good judge of character i guess...

If i was to swap out an old V6 for a SC6 does anyone know if the loom/BCM and computer needs to be swapped over as well? I am assuming so, isn't there different petrol pumps involved also? Cheers, Daz.

it would be cheaper just to buy a vt spac and sell yours you can get them for around 7000
