Changed my heater tap today, no more leaking which is awesome... something i never took notice for that I did notice today was that on the left side of my engine i can see smoke and oil burning close to where the spark plugs are mostly at the back side of the engine.. if i sit there revving the car around 4,500+ rpm for over 20 seconds or so.. it seems more oil appears to be burning towards the middle and very noticeable.. this has been like this for awhile i think as I have always smelt oil burning when i use my heater and just never took notice of it until today. Should I be concerned? cars @ 220,000km car was pushed a little bit during its 180,000-210,000km of its life before that it was looked after and now it has been too just the odd, once in awhile foot to the floor sorta thing.
Any ideas.. always good. Thanks
have a look at your rocker cover seals......clean around the point where the rocker cover joins the head and keep an eye on it for a few days.....if its leaking round there you should see obvious signs of oil seeping out. Then its a simple fix....new seal and a clean up. Check the other side too....often they leak into the valley and you may not see it until it runs over the back and down around bellhousing.....messy to say the least. Mines done 179 000kms and has just showen up the leak in a similar place.....I only noticed it when taking it in for a WOF and it was pointed out.....what a mess!!!
