Everywhere i have read the VT/VX has a 75lt petrol tank.. but yet i fill my VX Berlina S2.. i can't get past 60-62lt.. just slightly confused :S.. nyone have the same problem? or ny ideas why?
Well, I would say that your tank isn't completely empty when you fill it!
Don't rely on the fuel gauge!
drive it till it stops.
then fill it.
so driving till it says 1km left on the trip computer isn't good enough? haha
u mean it lied to me :'(
Sounds like it!
Go on fuel used that is 99.9% accurate. I had to use it for month no fuel gage. And it never let me down was always down to 1lt or less that close.
Fuel reaming goes on calculations averages depending on how you drive. It usually is off but it's just a guide.

mmm, that happened to me, had like 70km left on the trip computer and it ran of petrol on the freeway. basically trip computer is only estimates, wont be accurate
everyone has said it already.. just a guide matee
my gauge shows quarter of a tank and sometimes it only takes 20-30 bucks only to fill to top
and trip puter says i dont have many k's left so its not a very good guide but it is something i spose....
If All Else Fails, Then You're Probably Driving A Ford
mate i have the exact same problem and i have always wondered y i have never ever been able to fill past 60-62 litres. i think 15 litres i too conservative.
if you hold the up and mode trip computer buttons while you turn on the ignition, if you keep pressing mode you will see a screen that says 00l f or something similar, the 2 zeros being the number of litres left in your tank, might help
what does the gauge say when the trip comp says 1k left ? I read that when the low foue light comes on there's about 10 Litres left in the tank. Its conservative , but its really annoying to run out of petrol
There is only one fuel level senser in the tank which sends the same signal to the guage or the dash computer, so if that has an error, the whole lot will have an error.
Best tip when your fuel light comes on get fuel.

Face it, you're driving a car that's nearly 10 years old and has had countless tanks of juice in it from all sorts of suppliers... there's gonna be some nasty crud at the bottom of that tank (most likely). The last thing you want to do is run it empty, as someone suggested before, just to find out if you have the tank capacity the manufacturer quotes. Coz if you do, run it dry or even nearly, you'll probably get a fuel line/pump/filter full of all that nasty crud... and then the fun will really begin. Is it really worth it?
Yeah just imagine all those ppl that have cars that don't have a flashing light and chime and an estimate of dist to empty. Mine is also the same, can do about another 30ks yet car already says 0km to empty. I know I can normally get at least 560km to a tank, and then i know i don't have much left.
The fuel pickup is at the bottom of the tank, any nasty crud that has gone to the bottom has already had a chance to be sucked up. It can only be "crud" that is lighter than petrol that can cause problems when the level runs low.
Re the false alarm? when my petrol warning light comes on I put some more petrol in there, I think it starts at 49km to empty.....cant stand the chimes/beeping, how accurate, dont know, Ive never filled the petrol tank to find out.
With the fact lpg tank, it typically says 0km left when there is 15L of lpg left in the tank.....sounds like it has been calibrated with the same safety factor.
HELL!! ya beat me to it!The fuel pickup is at the bottom of the tank, any nasty crud that has gone to the bottom has already had a chance to be sucked up. It can only be "crud" that floats on the top that can cause problems when the level runs low
Pablo
..and just to add, That is what the inline fuel filter does, it filters out all the 'crud'.
Yeh, to hell with good sense... run it dry. It's only a filter after all. Any "good" motorist will keep a spare in the glovebox to get themselves going again, when the one fitted is choked with rust flakes and chewed bowser bits or the like.
Oh, you don't keep a spare... well, I'm sure one of these guys will drop everything and run one out to the side of the road for you, I know I would. (Right)
YEP!! Sure is!
... and your fuel just magics itself into your plastic tank from??? And that pristine plastic tank has never been filled from a 20-30-xx year old tank from under the crumbling cement driveway of Mechanic Joes Fine Ole Country Motors and Greasy Spoon Truck Stop, or from Granddad's trusty old WWII vintage Jerry can (with real military insignia), and every tanker, hose, and funnel ever used was wiped and blessed by the Blessed Holy Father himself... so ya just know it has to be be clean.
Does VT really stand for Virgin Territory?
I'm guessing it must; there ain't too many nearly wise enough to have been laid around here... yet.
