My eldest son has a VT S-pak and he bought it a new stereo for Xmas. Dear old dad gets tapped on the shoulder to help with the install. We have successfully pulled the old unit out and are now trying to work out how to install the head unit into what is basically a big hole. We have a pocket to fill up the space underneath, just have to work out how to install the unit itself. Does the bracket that comes with the radio clip into the top half of the hole or is there some sort of alternative bracket we have to buy? Tried searching on the car audio forum and found nothing on something this basic.
use the old bracket and bolt it onto the side of the new radio. took 2 hours to do my daughters
just install the cd player bracket / thing that came with the stereo as you normally would, and you can buy a single din compartment that sits in under your stereo, the black plastic pocket, cause the old one is the full double din size, i think from memory i was recomended to buy one from mazda, snap off a little tiny bit of plastic on the side, and it just fits straight in,
yeah install the headunit as normal with the bracket it came with and get a pocket from autobarn, supercheap auto, repco etc for about $25 and it clips in nicely under or above the headunit, to make it tight wrap some tape around it so it doesn't move around
This is in my old vt, should look something like this.
Radio in. Seems a bit odd though. Near as I can tell the only thing locating the radio is friction.
I dont have the bracket, anywhere i can get something i can use as an alternative?
someone told me to use a coat hanger, but i did mine today and just pulled mine out haha, very dodgy
Aha anyone also know where i can get a faceplate for a single din JVC unit?
