Hi Everyone,
I have VTII commodore. Anytime I fill up at the service station, my car turns on then just conks out. I have to do this about twice before I can drive away. It turns on first go easily after that, until I put some petrol on it. After putting in the petrol it runs for 2 seconds then just dies. I then wait 2 seconds, turns on OK and away I go. Does anyone know what this is? Maybe I have an o2 sensor problem?
I have 160k on the clock
Thankz

Yeah this used to happen to me in another vt that i had if I filled up at woolies servos with reg unleaded, but would happen if I used premium. This is happening to a bloke at work at the moment with his VT with 150k on it. He said if he fills up at shell with reg it conks and farts but it is all good when he uses the VPOWER 98 octane. It is weird coz I have a VT calais at the moment with a chip and I am supposed to use 98 but never do, just fill up wherever with what is cheap and never have a prob. Mine has 205k on it too.
hmm, some days I do put premium in it - because petrol is dirt cheap.
Could it be if I have a quarter tank of 91 RON, then put in three quarters of 98 RON - the computer or sensors stuggle with the new mix and it takes a few goes to run on the new mix of octanes? maybe one of my sensors is rooted? that said, it turns on very easily after that. farking cars!![]()
Now this is interesting, because i've been using Shell unleaded for a little while now as well as woolworths, now my VX is sometimes stopping (like it did last week) and shaking as if the petrol was really dirty. If i use higher octane petrol it's okay.
I had a similar problem in my VZ. I filled it up with Caltex (whatever their premium is, vortex??) fuel, and for a few days on a cold start it was not happy at all. One morning it started but was coughing and spluttering something shocking.
I since chucked some BP Ultimate in it and it's fine again (touch wood)... I'm just going to keep an eye on it.
sounds like "dirt" or water in bottom of tank being stirred up when you fill with petrol, drop your tank and flush it out
