I am Rebuilding my steering rack

My rack is leaking fluid everywhere so I bought a steering rack rebuild kit from repco for about $60, is it easy to do and do i need any special tools, is there anything i need to be aware of as I have not found any info when doing a search. Cheers steve

i believe there are special tools required.
you can get change over units for around $300 from places like Burson, Repco etc.
or, try your local wreckers.
6cyl and 8 cyl racks are all the same, the only difference is the speed sensitive racks for Calais.

iv got the rebuild kit now. i cant get the shaft out. seriously driving me insane

This isn't a Commodore, but it will give you a fair idea on how to do it, most racks are basically the same.
