How to Install A Passenger Airbag To VT Commodore

I recently purchased a VT II Commodore Executive and would like to install a passenger side airbag, as it only came with the drivers airbag.

I have managed to find the airbag & airbag module, is there any other parts required to complete the job? Can I use the same panel that is already on my dash covering the place where the airbag should be installed? Will all the wiring already be in place ready for the airbag to be connected?

I have googled this many times but have had no luck finding any answers.

Has anyone done this before?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Good idea, thought of it myself but got stuck on the calibration for the passenger seat position sensor. The airbag has a 2 stage deploy, if the seat is close to the dash it deploys with less force or at a quicker speed or something like that.

It can void your insurance in the case of an accident due to being a modification that cannot be engineered/ complied under any circumstances.

Cannot be done legally - and to do it illegally would involve many parts and a complete dash removal and refit.

It would be cheaper/easier to buy another car with passenger airbag

I had a chat with my local holden dealer and they also confirmed that it is not possible to install the airbag, as it would be illegal.

If you are desperate to fit an additional air bag, why not have a chat with a competant crash repairer, as they are surely replacing deployed bags in vehicles they repair.
Could only be as simple as getting from the wreckers a component or two that your car doesn't have fitted plus a new air bag from the GMH dealer.

Make sure your airbag you sourced is not stolen. A lot of air bags getting onto the black market are from stripped cars, apart from the above posts stating it is illegal to install, if you get defected for something else and your car goes through the pits, 8/10 times the air bag is stolen and your in a lot of issues from then on to get it removed, car impounded for months. Etc.
