Hi all,
I test drove a WH statesmen today at a yard, Gen III V8 - supurb car. it was 11,990 with 106k on the clock. Does this sound too cheap? He said the big cars are getting harder to sell and the real money is in 4 cylinders, hence the bargains going on big statesmans and the like
There were no weird noises or anything while driving, however the steering did have some strange feel about it. Almost like a slight looseness and vibration to while driving slow. Going faster it isnt so bad.
I drive a VT2 exec - would the steering components be identical? given my steering is perfect in the VT, would that be a good benchmark to compare the statesmen too in feel?
Cheers
i've never paid any attention to that until you just mentioned it. haha
they changed the sway link pins in them too... from WH and VX2 onwards
thanks for all the responses.
Does the car sound like a good deal if most things check out OK in it?
Yeah, swaybars changed to the side-pin bent type, from the stuff VT had which was the same fragile rubbish as the VN-VS.
Sounds like a good dealIt's not unusual to find them around that price now. You'll probably find a few quirks with the switches and electricals, and the cheap interior plastics starting to crack and break - but that's nothing strange for a Holden.
Just compare, I picked up my VQ V8 with rego and roadworthy for $3000. And it's in mint condition. The big cars really are falling in price![]()
