hey guys recently picked up my new vt and just installed a new sound system. first problem is after i installed 2 kicker comp subs and a jl audi monoblock amp, i have got the whine that goes up with revs. wasnt there before install using the same h/u and its gettin a bit annoying. seond is my work mate decided to see how loud it could go and turned the volumn up to the max which resulted in the amp going into protect mode and cutting power to subs and all speakers cut out. i turned it down, went off at the bloke, then waited till it came back on. the subs did but not the speakers. have checked all the fuses and everything is good. the speakers in there are blue blaupunkt speakers so not standard but yea no sound. any ideas?
Hey, not sure on your install but you should have power cables away from rca's and speaker wires.
If you do than check your earthing points, headunit and amp. Make sure they have a clean solid metal contact.
Secondly are you saying the subs are still not working after the amp going in protection mode? After it cools down all speakers should
work again. Can u sightly push your subs cones in? they could be blown.
Cheers
with the whining, i get that in my two front speakers, which are connected to my amp, but it only whines on them two speakers, ive had a good look at heaps of stuff, but professionals reckon its a shielding problem or making a tight ground, or the diode in the alternator could be f***ed or could be heaps of things, its pretty annoying, i had to disconnect my front speakers til i get it fixed, i think im gonna get a pro. to re-do it, and go over it.
power cables and rca's are run down each side of car seperate and speakers are not being run off amp. subs came back fine just the door speakers arnt coming on. amp seems to be running the subs fine. dunno if i've blown the speakers or ****ed the headunit
Either your connectors to the door speakers or the connectors to the speakers have come loose or you've blown your speakers.
As to the whine with revs, i suspect its a backfeed from your sub amplifier back to the headunit via common ground. usually its best to have amps that have its own isolated power supply which gives a clean power rail which it can run off. Cheap amps will come with cheap or lousy power supply.
fixed both probs. were both caused by headunit. replaced it and everythings all good lol
Thats good, what sort of head unit was it?
some panasonic mp3/wma player. wasnt a bad headunit but just carked it lol
