Default Installing Power Windows to VT Commodore

Can any one confirm if they have successfully converted their windows from manual to electric using the guide in the "How To's" Section?

I noticed that the instructions are for a VN or VR/VS, but will they also be the same for a VT Sedan??

My holden dealer told me I would need to change my BCM, but I noticed they wired the windows up without connecting to the BCM at all.

I am keen to do the conversion but dont want to go out and buy all the gear if it cant be done.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Hey mate, I just did mine and it was real simple. All you need is the wiring harnesses for the rear doors. I was lucky to already have the wiring in the centre console. If your car doesn't have this then it may be a little harder. Just check if there is the plug for the centre console switches underneath the centre console. Any hassles or q's just PM me.

    Hey mate

Thanks for the fast reply, I just checked and I don't think mine has a plug for the center console switch??
There are a couple of plugs under the cover but they are all plugged in at the moment. What does the plug look like and was it already unplugged??

I have managed to track down a wrecked VT Calais which I can get all four regs, the console switch, wiring loom from console switch & rear doors wiring looms only, front door looms have been sold...damm it.

Is there a power window module also??? I notice on the how to do it they showed a power window module, which the console switch is wired to??

    Your help is greatly appreciated!!

    Cheers
    Adam

The plug is about 1 and a half inches wide and has 8 or 10 wires attached. You couldn't miss it if it was there.

Hey mate, yeh as accentstencil said, you should see the plug right there, it wont be plugged into anything. If your car is a Series 1, the part number from Holden for the front wiring harness is 9204 7663. I had to buy mine cos no where had them second hand. If you dont have the centre console plug, I cant help you bud. Cos mine was there mine were easy to instal.

I'm not sure what you want to know but you will need the main switch block, door looms ( I have some for sale if you are interested) rear door switches and of course, the regulators. Since you have the connector for the main switch I would assume your BCM can handle power windows, but don't hold me to that. You will also need a relay ( not sure if there is one or two) and fuse.

i dont know bud... but after i put all mine in the passenger and the 2 rears worked fine.. the drivers would only go up, not down.. followed the power up to the bcm but couldnt find the power coming out of the bcm to run the drivers window down... so i ran wires from the 2 wires that operate the drivers window to the motor plug itself.. dodgy but it works haha
